Indoor Slo-Pitch Rules & Guidelines

1. Field & Equipment

  • Spectators & Equipment: Keep all equipment, spectators, and drinks behind the out-of-play line, past 1st or 3rd base. No equipment should be between the 1st/3rd and home, except bats.
  • Alcohol: No alcoholic drinks allowed inside the dome. Violators can be removed from the league.
  • Food & Drink: No food, alcoholic drinks, or containers are permitted on the field.
    • No glass or breakable containers anywhere in the dome.
    • Players may have water, Gatorade, coffee, or similar drinks behind the sideline. No Sunflower seeds, Gum or any other food allowed.
  • Clean-Up: At the end of the night, dispose of all litter in the trash can—leave the area cleaner than you found it.

2. Waivers & Registration

  • Every player must sign the online waiver and complete registration.
  • No one is allowed on the field without registration, including spare players.

3. Lost & Found

  • If you find an item, do not take it home.
    • Give it to the convener or umpire.
  • If you lose something, contact the convener.

4. Bases

  • Bases will be provided.
  • Players are responsible for replacing moved bases during the game.
  • At the end of the final game, the team on the field will collect the bases and return them to the garage (White door)

5. Warm-Ups

  • No hitting in the warm-up area. Players are not allowed to warm up with bats.

Game Rules

6. Time Limits

  • 1 hour 40 minutes per time slot.
    • First game: Full 7 innings.
    • Second game: As long as time allows.

7. Infield Balls

  • No infield balls permitted.

8. Deflected Balls

  • Outs can be made by catching a ball deflected off the roof, light stands, or walls before it hits the ground.
  • If the ball hits the roof, walls, or equipment, it remains live. The fair or foul decision depends on where the ball lands or is touched by a fielder.
  • The roof foul line is an umpire’s judgment call, so please avoid complaints.

9. Home Run Zone

  • All balls off the dome are live. No home run cones; home runs are allowed.

10. Trapped Balls

  • If a ball gets behind an obstruction on the sidelines, play it out.
  • If a ball bounces back into play after going behind an obstruction, it is live.

11. Batting Order

  • Teams can have more guys than girls, but there can never be more than 3 male batters in a row more than twice in the lineup.

12. Commitment Line

  • The Commitment Line rule is in effect.

13. Pitching

  • Pitching arc: 5 to 10 feet.
  • A home plate mat (24” x 36”) will be used.
  • No Mexican Rules apply.
  • All batters will start with a 1-1 count.
  • Females cannot bunt.

14. Anticipation Step

  • A batter may take an anticipation step only after the ball crosses the plate.

15. Courtesy Runners

  • 2 courtesy runners per gender per inning.

16. Bats

  • Only USSSA thumbprint stamp bats are permitted.
    • Use of a banned bat will result in immediate ejection. If you’re unsure, show the bat to the umpire for approval.

17. Runners

  • No runners can be thrown out at 1st base from the outfield, regardless of gender.

18. Ties

  • Ties are allowed during regular play but must go to extra innings in the playoffs.
  • Tie-breaking order:
    1. Best Record
    2. Head-to-head (if applicable)
    3. Plus/Minus
    4. Most runs scored
    5. Least runs allowed
    6. Coin toss

Special Rules

19. Runs Per Inning

  • Teams may score a maximum of 5 runs per inning.
  • Last inning: If the away team is losing, they may score as many runs as needed to take a 1-run lead.
  • There is no game mercy in league

20. First Light Rule (Bradford Only)

  • If the ball hits the first light and rolls foul, it is a foul ball.
  • If it is caught before hitting the ground, it’s an out.
  • If it stays fair, it’s live.
  • Any other light is in play, and the ball is live the moment it hits the light.

21. Walk Rule for Ladies

  • Ladies do not have the option to walk if a male batter gets walked in front of them. The female batter must face the pitcher and cannot automatically take first base.

  • Exception: If there are 2 outs, the lady has the option to walk.

22. Roster Rule

  • Roster Lock: Team rosters are locked after the 3rd week of league play.
  • Playoff Eligibility: Only players who appear on the final locked roster are eligible to participate in the playoffs.
  • League Approval Exception: The league reserves the right to approve the addition of players to rosters after the lock date, under special circumstances. Such approvals will be at the discretion of the league organizers. This must be done via email. Please email softball@stadiumsportleagues.com for approval
